It has been a week and you still don't talk to me. I do mean my apologe , although you have all the rights in the world not to accept it and even ignore it , but I want you to know that I am being sincere and truthfully regret what I said to you. You did not deserve it , and you have all the rights in the world to be angry and not want to speak with me, or me anywhere around you. I did not mean to hurt you in that way, I was in a moment of panick, you know how the jerk is , you know how James and his friends love to humiliate me and you know that I can't defend myself so well... it's always been that way, you out of everyone know that I'm the worst when it comes to all of those things... I want you to know that I'm sorry. I really am sorry. I won't ever say that to you again, it just slipped out, I was angry, upset, humiliated, so many feelings all at once, and I felt like a fool for not being able to stand up for myself, and it all came on you, it shouldn't have. Please Lily, I'm begging you.
"What's that?", asked James, furrowing a brow curiously as he reached out to grab the piece of parchment from my hands, "Who's that from?", he asked again.
"None of your business, Potter", I snapped dryly as I folded the parchment in two, then four , then shoved it into my pocket. I didn't care whether Severus was regretful of his actions and words or not, it didn't mean anything to me anymore. Words like that didn't slip out of one's mouth unless they'd heard it very often, which was very possible with the new circle of friends he had. Lucius, Bellatrix, they weren't very good people, I could tell. And even if he did regret and he was really sorry, it wouldn't mean he would stop being with his friends and acting like the worst prat. "Besides, you should learn to mind your own business and stop popping out of nowhere. You're going to end up giving me a heart attack."
"I wouldn't want that, but I can't help it. I'm just that much of a spontaneous folk", James replied jokingly, giving me one of his flirty , playful winks. He laughed lightly and sat on the couch next to me, "So what are your plans for the day?"
"And you would care because ?"
"Because I wanted you to come join us to Hogsmeade after classes."
"Us ? You mean you and your friends , the Marau-... whatever you call yourselves? Forget it."
"The Marauders", he corrected me, "Come on , don't be so stuck up , Evans, they're not as bad as you think."
"Peter is just a dumb boy, he asked why potions were called potions the other day. What sort of question is that?", I mocked in a logical, intelligent tone of voice.
"Well, there's also Sirius and Remus."
"Remus is alright , I suppose. We've worked on this project one time, and he was very studious, and calm, and reserved. A bit shy though, but he still had a pleasant character."
"But Sirius is the funniest! You can't imagine all the pranks we've pulled and got away with thanks to him!"
"Let me think, Sirius is an absolute jerk who makes fun of first years by pulling stupid pranks on them , picks on the youngest one's in the school when he has no galleons for a Butterbeer and misses almost every class to go hang out with older Gryffindors outside the school. And he's always in detention, that's a very good influence." I'd never really appreciated Sirius, to be quite honest, I found him to be the most immature out of the four, though I found it unnecessary to add that. I had to respect James' friends , after all.
"At least he's fun, unlike others..."
"Hey!", I hit his shoulder with a brick of books, "I can be fun when I want to Potter."
"You haven't showed me already."
"What do you mean I haven't showed you, we went flying about two days ago, or have you forgotten?"
"Yes, but technically, I was the one to iniciate that."
"Well, I still followed along. Consider yourself lucky."
"I am. I'm very lucky to have flied with Lily Evans", he laughed silently, "But you know, you're not the most fun girl to be around."
"Are you trying to provoke me?"
"No, I'm being honest...", he bit his lip, and paused before adding, "I just... I think you need to come out of your shell."
"Oh, please Potter. If coming out of my shell means getting detentions every day and bullying the first grades, than I'd rather be the most boring girl in the castle."
"I didn't mean that..."
"Then /what/ did you mean ? Lord, you're not quite good at explaining yourself, now aren't you?", I crossed my arms over my chest, trying not to look too upset. Why was he saying that ? I knew that I could be fun when I wanted to. I knew I could be playful, and funny, and fun to be around. But I didn't want to open up to a jerk like him.
"You know... Just, do something crazy. We all know you're down-to-earth, intelligent and reserved. But do something mad every once in a while..."
"You're not giving me an example. What, jump off the astronomy tower, maybe?", I replied mockingly.
"No. That would be stupid."
James and I shared a laugh, and I nodded, agreeing.
"It would be , indeed, completely stupid."
James ran his fingers through his own hair, and pulled his shoulders in a shrug,
"Something crazy... like, kissing me."
"Kissing you?", I questioned, chewing on my inner lip lightly, "I will not kiss you , James Potter."
"See, that's what I'm talking about. You're boring."
"I'm not boring!"
"Then what are you waiting for?", James chuckled.
To those words, I grabbed his tie, pulled his face closer to mine, and crushed my lips to his. At first , I just kissed him quickly, but as it went on , it became natural, more passionate, I didn't know what was going on or why I was doing this, yet all I knew was that it felt right, it felt good. I closed my eyes and moved my hands to the back of his neck , pressing my chest up to his, for a few moments, before pulling away.
"There, I kissed you."
