"Sev, sev !", I yelled out as I saw a tall and slender dark haired boy wearing Slytherin robes walk past the tree by the lake. It was my best friend, the boy who knew most about me , almost more than my own self. We'd always gotten along, until recently, when I'd found out about his use and interest for Dark Arts and magic. Obviously, I was absolutely against it, but I knew I couldn't force him to think reasonably like I did, nor would my words and continuous insisting for him to stop would really change anything. I'd decided to look past it. Hopefully, it wouldn't change our relationship that much, we'd still be good friends no matter what he'd choose. Or so I hoped.
I saw my fellow Slytherin best friend look over at me, and that usual saddened facial expression turned into a joyful one. He walked up to me, holding his Dark Arts book in one hand . He sat down on the damp grass close to me , but the small smile that he had only a few seconds ago, had quickly vanished. "I heard it, you know...", he murmured silently, almost to himself.
"I heard about you and him..."
"About what?", I was furious now, what was he talking about ? And /who/ was he talking about, most importantly? "What are you talking about, Sev, there's nothing I haven't told you already."
He bit his lip , and in a bitter tone of voice, "About you going to the Ball with Potter." The Yule Ball was coming soon, yes, but I had absolute no intentions of going with Potter, who'd started this foolish rumor ? And apparently , had spread it all over the school for everyone to hear. Nobody would do such a hateful thing, nobody put aside /Potter/. I growned angrily, "It's a rumor, Sev, I'm not going with him to the Yule Ball!" , I cried out, "Those are rumors, inventions. It's probably him who spread that nonsense around , but it's utterly false."
'Please believe me , Sev' , I thought to myself. I wasn't a betrayer , I would never go out with an arrogant jerk, and especially not with one who constantly made fun of my friend and brought him down .
"I'm not going out with h-"
I turned around , and boiling with rage , glared at James . He was walking in my direction. Oh great, excellent, exactly what I needed. I was more than furious, words could not even describe how I felt. My almond-shaped eyes looked straight into his brown one's without a single hint of fear, "You!"
"What is it about me?", James tried to be playful, he liked seing me angry, visibly. Did he think it was cute in any way? His and my definition of cute were not at all the same.
"Can't you learn to shut it when you need to ? And if that's the way you're asking me out to the Ball, I'm declining your 'invitation' !", I yelled at him. My cheeks and the tip of my nose turned to a slight shade of red from the frustration.
"Oh come on , you know you want to , my beautiful Lily", he gave me a provocative wink , to which I made a face.
"Do not call her like that...", it was Sev's weak voice that had silenced James, but only temporarily, because he'd responded brutally, "You shut up greasy head, go wash and you'll come talk to me when you're bloody clean. Filthy Slyth-"
"Shut up and do not EVER talk to me again James Potter. You're the most rude , unintelligent , disrespectful creature I've ever met in my whole entire life!" , Lily yelled out as loud as she possibly could, unable to control her emotions . How could he be so rude and hurtful to someone who'd done nothing wrong to him ? Lily ran to Sev, picked up his books and took his hand , walking back to the castle .
Now this was it,
she would never allow him to get near her again.
